The Lone Star International Film Festival is proud to award these deserving honorees, along with filmmakers in competition that will be recognized for their accomplishments in new film. An awards ceremony will take place during the Awards Brunch at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel on Sunday at 11:00 a.m., with a special guest appearance by world famous gospel group, the Dixie Hummingbirds.

- LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - Martin Sheen
The recipient of countless honors for his acting, activism and philanthropy, Martin Sheen is one of the most admired artists of his generation; and we are proud to add one more star to his plethora of prizes.
- LIVING LEGEND AWARD - Harry Dean Stanton
With a reputation for smoking, drinking and partying till dawn, this hardworking octogenarian is at the top of his profession, artistically and commercially, co-starring in the hit HBO series Big Love. He is also an accomplished musician and singer, garnering rave reviews wherever he goes.
- PIONEER AWARD - Carolyn Pfeiffer
Carolyn Pfeiffer broke into show business when women
rarely did such a thing, and went on to become
co-chair of Island Alive, a company which heralded a
new wave of independent cinema worldwide. She is now
on the forefront of another exciting movement, to turn
college campuses into motion picture production companies.
- MAVERICK AWARD - Robert Rodriguez
Self-reliant multi-hyphenate Robert
Rodriguez has redefined the rules of independent
cinema. Shunning Hollywood's high budgets and
multi-picture deals for the sake of maintaining his
creative freedom, he has made his adopted home Austin,
Texas into a mecca for likeminded rebels and created a
viable alternative to the Hollywood machine.
- UP AND COMER AWARD - Bryan Poyser
Bryan Poyser is a filmmaker and mentor to filmmakers.
He graduated from the UT Austin RTF school in 1996,
the same year he co-founded the highly-rated
Cinematexas International Short Film Festival. In
2001, he wrote and directed the award-winning short
PLEASURELAND. Three years later he shot his first
feature, DEAR PILLOW, a darkly comic, coming-of-age
story about a teenager who tries to get a job writing
pornography. “Pillow” was named one of the15
Undiscovered Gems of 2004 by Indiewire. In 2005 Bryan
was nominated for the Independent Spirit Someone to
Watch Award. We had no trouble electing him for out
similarly-themed Up-And-Comer Award.
- INNOVATOR AWARD - Jeff Tremaine
Along with co-conspirators Johnny
Knoxville, Spike Jonze, Rick Kosick et al, Jeff
Tremaine has propagated a dynamic, hilarious and
dangerous form of documentary cinema, elevating the stunt double to leading man, and redefining machismo for an entire generation.
